Here’s an interesting fishing story that holds good memories for me. Several years ago, I was in Idaho with my adult son, who like me is an avid fly fisherman and my Dad, who taught me as a young boy some of the basics of fishing, but only bait casting (lots of birds nests on the reels) and spin casting. He never held a fly rod in his hand until the day my son and I took him to the Big Wood River just south of Ketchum, Idaho. My son and I carefully got him ankle deep in the river and showed him how to drift a dry fly downstream in hopes that a cooperative trout would take the fly. As it turned out, one did and my Dad caught his first trout on a fly. I don’t know which of the 3 of us was the most excited. It was a great family bonding experience.
